Questions to Experts
Zhuhai Wall
Mandarin or Cantonese?
- Delta Walls:
I'm moving to Zhuhai in the summer with my family. I'd like to learn Chinese, particularly some key phrases I will use in my daily life and work. BUT, which chinese language is used most commonly in Zhuhai and Zhongshan? Cantonese or Mandarin?
I agree with Paula Pan. Although most of the local people are speak Cantonese, but i still think Mandarin is much easier for foreigners. For you guys Mandarin is easier to pronounce than Cantonese. I have many foreign friends they can speak very fluent Mandarin but not Cantonese, haha..
Anyway, welcome to China, hope you will have a great time here!
Tracy
I also think Mandarin is better, because there are a lot of people from other provinces in Zhuhai. They can only understand Mandarin, and local people also can understand.
By the way, if you need a Chinese teacher, I can teach you standard Mandarin, I have teached foreigners before. You can contact me by email, my email adress is cathayzh@163.com
Thanks for the advice. Mandarin it is!

Both, I think, but if you speak Cantonese, non-Cantonese speaking people may not understand you, and Mandarin is understood throughout the country including Guangdong.
