On August 14th 2012, the JW Marriott Shenzhen, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou, The British Columbia Trade and Investment Office and the Canadian Trade Office Shenzhen, played host to the Canadian Food festival – “A culinary tour of Canada.”
The Canadian Food Festival marks the opening of one of the largest promotions of Canadian food and beverage by the Consulate General of Canada Guangzhou in the last few years. The Consul General of Canada in Guangzhou, Mr. Weldon Epp was in attendance at the opening night of the festival held in the Jinmao grand ballroom, where he used fluent Chinese to introduce Canadian cuisine and emphasize the quality of natural Canadian produce. JW Marriott Shenzhen General Manager Mr. Colin Young and the Consul General officially opened the festival with a wine pouring ceremony and a Canadian maple leaf ice-sculpture, an icon of Canadian food and a theme which will run throughout the festival. More than 30 local and foreign enterprises were represented, with media presence high for the opening night.
Canadian produce, livestock and seafood are revered by the catering industry worldwide because of their strict standards of quality. Canada is known by many as the world’s best supplier of seafood.
The Canadian Food Festival begins on August 14th and continue until September 30th. During the period of the festival, guests in all hotel’s restaurants – Cafe Chinois, Man Ho, Shizuku will be able to try imported Canadian delicacies and fine foods, as well as selected Canadian wines.
