[March 16 2012, Macau] Organized by Delta Bridges Media Ltd, the sixth Delta Inter Chamber Event took place on Friday, March 16th at the Mandarin Oriental, Macau. Entitled "Aviation in the Pearl River Delta", the symposium focused on the development of the civil aviation industry in China.
Mr. He Jun, Deputy Chief Executive of Jinwan District and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Park, began the evening with a discussion of new government regulations and their impact on industry development. Next, Ms. Luo Sylvia, Deputy Director of the Economy and Trade Development Bureau of Zhuhai Aviation Industrial Park, outlined the many benefits of a vigorous domestic aviation industry. You could "[save] travel time, improve work efficiency,” and “change the transportation way,” she said, resulting in “more time to enjoy life.” It could also “bring new business opportunities,” she mentioned, adding: “Aviation is a new industry, which has huge investment and development business chances. Commercial activity is different: quicker, more private, fashionable, and efficient."
Mr. Jiang Scott, Divisional Director for Cirrus Aircraft in China, was the final speaker for the evening, giving an illuminating talk on some of the difficulties that aviation companies experience while operating in China. Although corporations like Cirrus can serve many more potential customers in China, government restrictions used to make it impossible for their clients to actually fly a plane. Thanks to a partnership between Cirrus and the Zhuhai Government, Zhuhai has become the first city in China with its own recreational aviation club. The club, which operates as an official Fixed-Base Operator (FBO), will enable visitors and Zhuhai residents to use private planes. As Mr. Jiang put it: “Come to Zhuhai - come to fly in Zhuhai!”
After the event, the speakers mingled with over 180 guests at "Vida Rica Bar" for an evening of wine and canapés.
