Firefighters hose down a fire at Xingda Petrochemical Industrial Co. in Huizhou, neighboring Shenzhen, yesterday. The company shut its 180,000 ton/year EPS (expandable polystyrene) plant after the fire broke out at one of its two feedstock styrene tanks yesterday afternoon. The tank that caught fire has a capacity to store 3,000 cubic meters of styrene. There was no immediate report of any casualties. The plant’s reopening date is unknown.
