Tallest skyscraper in South China ranks among world's top 10

Briefing

Recently, the 432-meter Guangzhou International Finance Center, the tallest skyscraper in Guangzhou and South China, was topped off successfully, making it one of the top 10 highest buildings in the world.

The Guangzhou International Finance Center is located at the core of the financial and business district in the southwestern area of Pearl River New City. The project covers an area of 31,000 square meters with a total floor area of about 450,000 square meters. There are four underground levels and 103 above-ground floors in the main tower building. Both the floor area and the number of structural levels rank first amongst similar high-rise projects in the country. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2009, and will begin operation in 2010.

Zhang Guangning, Mayor of Guangzhou, said that the Guangzhou International Finance Center's being topped off signifies that the construction of the core financial and business district of Pearl River New City and the Guangzhou's regional international financial center has already entered the "fast lane."
