On August 7, it was learned from the Research Report on Accelerating the Cultural Transformation and Inheriting and Developing the Lingnan Culture (hereinafter referred to as the Report) issued by a research group of the Administration of Culture, Press, Publication, Radio and Television of Guangzhou Municipality, from this year to 2016, Guangzhou will launch 37 key cultural facilities construction projects, more than half of which are museum construction projects. The Administration of Culture, Press, Publication, Radio and Television of Guangzhou Municipality proposed to build Guangzhou into a city of museums.
According to the Report, the new Guangzhou Museum which is much concerned by citizens is to be built in Baiyun New Town, with a building area of 58,500 square meters and an investment of RMB 1.1 billion. Now the design proposal is being selected and the project will be started this year and is planned to be completed in 2015.
