Over 200 diplomats from over 30 Consulate Generals in Guangzhou and Guangdong Foreign Affair Office gathered at the foot of Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year - Year of Tiger, which will fall on February 14.
Fu Lang, Director General of Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office, said Guangdong has deepened international exchanges with the outside world in the past years. In the Year of Tiger, Guangdong will continue to strengthen friendship and enhance cooperation with international friends. He also promised better communities and better service will be provided to the consulate generals.
Werner E.Nievergelt, Consul General of Switzerland, representing the 37 consulate generals in Guangzhou, said the consulate generals will enhance exchanges with Guangdong in the commerce, economy, science and culture. He also hoped that more cooperation and support are provided from offices, universities and colleges.
Mohammad Iftikhar Anjum, Consul General of Pakistan and Alex, diplomat from Indonesia said they have already plans to promote the Games both in their country and in their community here in south China.
