A weeklong European culture festival kicked off Tuesday in the city of Foshan in south China's Guangdong province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Polish Ambassador to China Tadeusz Chomicki said he was happy to participate in the event.
He said there have been increasing exchanges between Europe and China, with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski's December 2011 visit to China elevating bilateral relations.
The festival, the first of its kind, will last until May 21 and feature a variety of activities, including an European film festival, a Polish culture exhibition and a Chinese kung fu performance.
The consulate generals of Poland and several other EU countries attended the opening ceremony.
Located some 20 km away from the provincial capital of Guangzhou, Foshan is the ancestral hometown of kung fu star Bruce Lee.
