To cultivate a wealth of human resource talents, Dongguan's SongShan Lake plans to build a 'university town' by collaborating with between 10 to 15 universities over the coming five years.
Based on existing universities and other educational bodies, SongShan Lake will build research institutions with certain universities. Construction preparations for "The cooperative innovation research institute of South China University of Technology and Peking University's Dongguan Institute of Opto-electronics" will soon start in SongShan Lake. Negotiations with domestic universities such as Fudan University, Tongji University, Shanghai University, and Wuhan University are presently under way regarding a jointly built research institute.
