Competitiveness of Dongguan enterprises ranked 3rd

According to the "2012 Chinese City Competitiveness Blue Book" released on 21st May 2012 by China's Academy of Social Sciences, Dongguan's comprehensive competitiveness was ranked 20th out of 249 selected Chinese cities. Based on criterion such as economic efficiency, income level and the general well-being of its residents, the top-10 were Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Changsha.

While Dongguan didn't make the illustrious top-10, it did receive some index scores that were higher than Guangzhou. The competitiveness of Dongguan's enterprises, innovative environment and social environment were ranked 3rd, 7th and 9th respectively.

The index of competitive enterprises mainly included sub-indexes of enterprise growth capabilities, creative abilities, manufacturing capacities, marketing abilities, management capacities, plus cultural and system power. According to the report, only Shanghai and Suzhou ranked above Dongguan in these regards.

The research group also compared the change of citywide competitiveness over the past ten years. In the ranking of 50 cities with fastest-growing competitiveness, Dongguan came 6th, with Foshan 33rd and Guangzhou trailing at 46th.
