Light rail in our city

Recently on ZH TV there was a bit about that light rail lines would be established around the city. Does anyone know anything about time frame and where the lines would be. If there was a means of getting from A to B in the city without all the red traffic lights then maybe other parts of the city would become relevant for living.

Note: I am not sure "light rail" is the correct term for it, but trains running above ground.

There seems to be some confusion re terminology. The article I read - thought it was here - called them "streetcars" but I think they are just new versions of trams, running on tracks on the road. It suggested they would go along Lovers Rd & through the main downtown areas.

OMG, that would be awful. Can you imagine the effect of construction on the roads? And I thought the blaring horns were bad now.

How would this be an improvement over what I consider to be an already excellent bus system?

DaveB, I see your fear.

I am however optimistic that because it will be running on rails, there will be less breaking, accelerating, lane changing, honking the horn, no stopping at traffic lights etc. and with a bit of luck the rails will even be smooth to run on.

The plan is to collect to west side of the city. I don't see many stop between Zhuhai city limit. Maybe they have not posted all the stops.

I was mostly concerned about the construction process. If they could just drop it in over night I think it would be great.
