Hello fellows,

I am looking for the best GPS to use in Main Land China, something that you have experience. I do Have 2 but they make me crazy. One say to the left and the other at the same time say to the right when i am driving there. Does anyone knows which is the best and accurate.

Sorry for my english...

Thanks all data is welcome...

Until I drive, I don't need to use a GPS, so sorry to say I have no actual experience with a GPS in China.

However I am told by Garmin that they sell a China map (with spoken directions in English at least, and probably other roman-letter languages too). I'd love to know whether the map is any good -- in case I need a GPS some day.

And I wonder how Garmin handles the written instructions that appear on screen -- in English (not useful since English never appears on road signs), in pinyin (only useful on major roads where pinyin appears beside the Chinese characters), or in Chinese characters themselves?

Garmin updates its maps frequently, which is necessary in China in view of the constant construction of new roads. Just make sure that lifetime updates are included in the purchase price; individual updates cost almost $100 for North America maps, and presumably a similar amount for China maps.

I recently used the Garmin GPS in Canada, and it was superb!

I don't know much about GPS but we have great OVI maps with voice navigation on our phones and there is an option of English or Chinese.

Thank you for the input comments.
Is like that, i have a Shinco E203 and it has 4 different setups, Recommended way, High way, Short way and Long way. It works well in English menu and it has Mandarin, Cantonese as well english speaking voice.
In my car i have another GPS at the cockpit but is all in Chinese menu and speaking voice. Is not a problem for me, because i allways take my translator with me. (forgive me my sweet wife).
Last weekend i went to Foshan and the Shinco takes me allways by the High way but the other by the short way, i guess. Makes me crazy. I have followed the Shinco at i took about 2 and half hours to go 3 hours to come back Zhuhai. Since i arrive the destination, is ok for me the time is not so important... My problem is when i am driving i don't know where i am, i just follow what the GPS say to me...and i found that is cheatting me, because i just need 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive Foshan according to google map directions.
Well, well.... i am going to try an USB GPS receiver and google gps map with a notebook for the next time...
Let me see if during the trip i can know where i am and stop the conflits between the two GPS's.

Thank you guys and ladies

Hello there,

Yep, it works well. For the ones who wants to know.: here it is and in fact it is a better navigation. I bought and Android Mobile phone with internet acess and GPS satellite tracking in the same device, separated functions but syncronised. Download the Baidu map and ask the Android to lock it by Internet and GPS at the same time. For the ones who as an Android in CDMA, China Network Protocol, please download the Baidu map from www.gfan.com

It is great, it works fine and very well..

Thanks again for all.

Sorry for my english...
