Discovered a Vegetarian restaurant today
I wasn't able to find it in the listings so decided to write here. Our friends took us to the Vegetarian restaurant in Ningxi. The Chinese name is Su Xin Guang (vegetable heart house). It is located right behind Jin Yin Bei bus stop, on route of the bus #23 (Ningxi bus stop for other buses).
Small and cozy, very simple. They serve only vegetarian dishes, no meat, no fish and I think (I am not sure though) no alcohol and no smoking. Prices are low and affordable. They don't work on Sundays. And they serve free breakfast. The owner is a Buddhist. So are all the stuff. They are extremely friendly and very sincere. The owner (Lily) speaks quite good English. There are 2 floors, the bathroom is VERY CLEAN.
They also have their own farm somewhere around Doumen so some dishes are made out of organic vegetables. They have an English menu.
Some food is a bit spicy so when you order you can ask to make it suitable to your taste. I liked all the dishes we tried (tofu+tomato, lotus root with what seemed to be red bean tofu, sauteed bamboo shoots, sauteed in vinegar potato, cold zuccini; pumpkin+carrot and noodles; their rice is made out of 5 different types of rice).
They work 7am to 9 pm.
Phone number is 5510656
I am not a big fan of Chinese food but I liked the place. So did my family - our daughter actually a A LOT and she is a picky eater.
Nearby they also have a Buddhist shop where on the 2nd floor they often have lectures by monks and "Masters' (in Chinese).
Thanks for sharing.
Here the address in Chinese:
香洲区吉柠路珠海香洲柠溪吉柠路6号吉宁山庄6号铺
I'll try to find it tomorrow and then list it on Happycow.net
From Gongbei Bus number 11 or 32 seem to get me there.
Get off at 柠溪 (ning2 xi1).
Hi, is this in Zhuhai? I may be moving there and I am vegetarian, I would love to know there is a nice clean place to eat vegetarian food that I know has not been cooked in posible meat oil
Are electrical goods cheaper than HK or would it be better to buy a lap top in Zhuhai? I need one now, but if I come, I may wait a while. Is the place safe for women? I am quite excited about the place, but I have to see if I get the job first, its in Zhuhai Girls school. Does anyone know anything about this school? Its private, I will be head, leading the English section, and advising on curriculum delivery. Any advice would be brilliant. Thanks
Thanks Cheekygal, thats very helpful. I am excited about the post now, but I don't know if I got it yet. Its odd, but the place doesn't seem how I imagined China to be. Someone said it was like landing on Mars and it put me off a bit because although I want to experience the culture, I would like a few home comforts (like BBC World) just so I don't feel completely isolated. I have travelled a lot. so I'm used to settling in new places. Its just that China was said to be 100% different from anything in the West. I hope the girls school is nice, the web site had so little information really, just that its a boarding school. Thanks for your help, its really appreciated.
Haven't made it yet to try this place. There is also a Loving Hut in Zhuhai. It is listed on happy cow (In my view the best website for locating vegetarian food:
Oh brilliant, thanks for that. As a travelled woman, I am amazed at the lack of Vegetarian food, especially in Europe and the Middle East! Russia is literally impossible. I'm pleased to see so many blogs about the place too, I need as much info as I can before I make a decision (assuming I get the job there)!

Yes it is in Zhuhai. And no, they don't good with meat at all. They are buddhists and very dedicated ones.
As for your laptop, you can buy one here but it depends what brand you want. Definitely Mac will be cheaper in HK but such brands as Acer are cheaper or the same price here in Zhuhai.
Zhuhai is pretty safe for women and in general people. I heard about the girls' school but don't have any details. I will ask around about the school's reputation.
