In the past a Chinese passport holder could enter Macao if they had a valid visa for a third country and or a valid plane ticket to depart from the Macao airport.

In other words they did not need a visa or any document issued by the Macao authorities.

Is this still the case? I may travel from Macao with a Chinese friend to another country. I want to make sure my friend can get to the airport to take the flight. Thanks

Yes,it's still the case according to my colleague a mainland Chinese citizen's experience. In her case, she didn't even really have a valid ticket, she just paid the travel agency like 500RMB,then everything is set,she can have 3 entries to Macau in like,I am not sure 3 months or something.Actually it is a service of some travel agency. In your case, you have a valid visa and a valid ticket,it should be any problem.

At the very end of Lian Hua Lu there is a small travel agency on the left side (near the bus station). They will sell your friend a valid visa for Vanatu which can be used to transit through immigration into Macau. Of course your friend need's a valid passport to make this work. I don't remember the exact cost, but it is much less than 500 rmb, but it will only work once.

But if you are going to another foreign country then your friend should already have a visa, right? If that is the case it is no problem getting through immigration.

Cheers. Dave B
