Nanny help
We are an English family newly arrived in Macau and would like to find a nanny/babysitter for our 5 year old daughter.
Any tips or advice on where to look and what we should expect to pay would be gratefully appreciated!

Under the Macau Law, you have to pay at least MOP2,500 for the helper's salary. If u want her to stay out, you have to pay minimum MOP500 more for her accommodation. If she stays with you, then you don't have to pay for that.
One thing you have to be careful with the helper is some of them are very naughty. They steal sth (like, money, clothes etc) from the boss. I don't say all are them are like this but some of them do. Frankly, I like the Indonesian helper more than the one from Philippine. Some of them are very bad. They pretend to be good in front of the boss and treat the kid badly when you are not staying with her. So be careful!
You can try your luck to find a maid in the recruitment company in Macau. There are many. I have tried to find one for my friend before but we can't find a good one. Finally, my friend introduced one for me. She is quite good.

You may want to try getting in touch with the International Ladies Club http://www.ilcm.org.mo/, they have a mums n tots group and you might meet some people who can recommend someone to you. Domestic help is usually about 30-40/hour not sure about babysitting but probably the same.
