Guangzhou Rams Rugby Club (Guangzhou)

Details
Description

It has always been the aim of the club not only provide a sporting outlet for some of Guangzhou’s ex-pat population, but also to use the enthusiasm inside the club to develop rugby in South China.

Founded in 1996, it is the oldest amateurs' organization in the city. It has touch and contact rugby teams, and men's and women's squads, training each Wednesday (at the Tiyu Dong Football Pitch) and Friday evenings (at the South China University of Agriculture) in Tianhe.

Playing History

GZ Rams began to spread their wings and in 1998 they traveled to Guam for the sevens tournament held there. Following that the Rams also attended the Manila 10’s (1999 and 2000) and the Macau 10’s (1998 onwards)

On the domestic front the Rams began to play regular merchandises with teams from around the Guangdong province, such as Shekou, Macau, Daya Bay, Zhongshan, GZ Army (PLA), Army Special Forces, and SCAU.

In addition, Rams teams have regularly played against HK teams, both in one off merchandises (against the likes of Pot Belly Pigs, Kowloon Beavers and Nomads), as well as competing in the Kowloon 10’s tournaments.
