haha.... papers in Chinese only, so you's better ask one of your Chinese friends to go with you!
Michelle, if I remember well, you do not even need to show any proof of address.... but then again I opened my bank account many years ago and things may have changed since then.
I'm interested in BB too.. right now I have it on Wifi-only mode.. dont wanna pay roaming from europe :) so it only works at the office and at some hotels. La muton has open wifi and jack and the pod at bar street
The easiest way is to open an account in Bank of China.
They are the best bank in China to deal with foreign currency or wire.
Then you can provide your bank account to your company and have them wire $$$ directly to the account here, or whatever from your own US bank account. Normally money will be in the next day 4;00 PM.
The wire transfer fee is varied from different bank and it costs from $40~~70 per wire. When you cash out the money from China side, sometimes they will deduct $12 per wire if your money are wired from certain banks like Bank of America, and sometimes no charge here if the US bank has direct business with Bank of China.
Hope the information above will help. Please feel free to let me know for any other questions.
thanks for the tip, we were considering to do the same, but now as it looks like we are no longer 'safe' as only blue-card holder, not sure whether we'd buy a house after all...
If you want to stay in the mountain area and take a breath of fresh air, Dinghu hotel is a good choice. but not much you can do at night. Star Lake Hotel, I think it must be next to the Star lake, in the city center area, with bar street and restaurants, but this hotel could be quite old, I'm not sure if it's still in good condition. Dynsaty Hotel? if the budget is suitable for me, maybe I will go there soon to check it out, and The Cellar in Zhaoqing.
For privacy reasons to a third party I cannot mention names but I actually met the guy. Not a pleasant experience I must say. Something very uncomfortable about him and he had a very 'leery' eye on the female office staff. Judging from his comments and opinions, there was something very unstable about him, and clearly something 'missing' between his ears. The most amazing thing is how anybody could employ him!!! He should have been 'fired' on many different occasions for a multiple of reasons, begging the question; how could he have ever been employed!!! Who interviewed him!!!!
Maybe we should go to this exposition to find out more:

Thanks a lot for your help :-) Will try to grab a cab and go visit them, I see that it's probably worthwhile!

The burgers at Dani's place easily compete with the real US burgers. Everything else I've tried just doesn't cut it. Dani's = amazing burgers, period.
I'm sure that everyone who has tasted it, agrees :) BBQ is great too!
I hope the papers don't say something like the Chinese can take your money any time :-)
Are the papers in English?
Thanks so much for the great help.

Right, and also a hotel address will be OK. You only need to pay RMB 10 to open an account in Bank of China.
As I remembered, ATM card will cost another RMB 10. It is pretty easy, just you have to sign some papers. *_*
They are based in Tangjia (northen part of Zhuhai), but they may accept to deliver. Worth to give them a call .
Thanks for letting the community know :)
Just your passport is enough. Then fill in a few forms. You also get a ATM card.
Thanks for the useful info, how easy is it to open a bank account in China?
Required documentation?
Do they provide a regular ATM card?
Do you need a home address or hotel will do?
Thanks!
Hi! are you close to Gongbei? I can't wait to come visit you :-)
